Primitive Quilt Top

Recently I remembered a quilt top that I made about eight years ago with the help of my grand daughter, who was ten years old at that time.  She was spending some time with me and whenever she was here for a day or so or a few days, she and I would always find some type of craft to do as she always enjoyed doing crafty things. For this project, I would print out a primitive pattern and she would look at it and draw it on the squares for me with a quilt marking pencil.  On one of the squares she traced around her hand and wrote her name and birth date.  That made it more personal to me. I stitched around all the drawings that she made on each square.  It really has a primitive look which was the look I was wanting.  I sewed the squares together to make a quilt top but never completed the quilt.  It has been packed away in a storage box for 10 years as she is eighteen years old now. I'm thinking seriously I need to completed this project!!!   Here are some camera shots of the quilt top.  My camera ran out of battery so I didn't get a close up of all the squares, but you get the idea.

Fabric Necklace

Now, isn't this just the cutest idea?  Fabric necklaces....
You can see this one and others at the Hobby Lobby website.  You can also find them at Creature Comforts.  They both give you the instructions!
I received a notification on Facebook that caught my eye and I had to go check them out!  I hope they don't mind me passing this on to my viewers.  That really looks like a fun project!

Completed Booklet

It took me awhile to get started but once I started, I did a lot of printing and cutting. Instead of one copy I made four of each item and finally got all that cutting done and made 4 little booklets. One will be for me to keep and 3 for gifts. Here are some snapshots. I wonder if anyone else has made one of the booklets. I will have to say they turned out nice!

Here is a sample of a few pages.

Front and Back Covers

I have just about enough recipe cards to fill a dollar type clear photo album. I like these little 4 x 6 photo albums to make special albums. Each booklet has 18 pages, front and back makes 36 pages so I have included a zip folder of six different blank recipe cards so you can add your own little ditty to the last page or print out as many extra blank cards as you wish. Blank cards can be used as backs to the pages and used to add future recipes, sayings, poems or notes.
I have also made the front and back cover for the album.

I have not yet made my booklet but I will publish it when I do get it together. This will be made the same as the Easter cards booklet that I made. See it here: http://craftythisandthat.blogspot.com/2009/03/finished-easter-recipe-booklet.html
